GeoSurf Proxies Reviews: Features and Performance Test

What is GeoSurf?

GeoSurf is one of the oldest and most popular residential proxy providers on the market. From our research, they are one of the best in the industry. They are secure, reliable, undetectable, and unblocked by the majority of web servers.

GeoSurf offers 2.5M backconnect residential proxies. According to the provider, its proxies are great for ad verification, localization testers, web scrapers, SEO, sales intelligence, and sneaker copping.

GeorSurf’s plans are all pre-paid and the subscription fee is auto-paid at the start of a new billing cycle. Their cheapest residential proxy plan starts from $450/month for 38GB of usage (about $12/GB). GeoSurf is even prepared to offer 2 TBs of traffic should you require this much and they also offer the ability to upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time.

They accept payments from most major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. So even though it is a high price, the high class, premium service that they offer makes it more than worth it in our opinion.

GeoSurf has done well in terms of compiling a good FAQ page that provides answers to most of the commonly asked questions. Moreover, if that doesn’t help, you can contact live support via email or Skype. I tried to contact GeoSurf via Skype and GeoSurf’s team responded quickly every time. Some might complain that they can't contact GeoSurf's live supporters but I think that they were contacted outside of GeoSurf's business hours.

GeoSurf Performance

We tested GeoSurf’s residential proxies with the main target being a Cloudflare server in the US, but we also ran several thousand requests with popular targets like Facebook, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Google... Results with individual websites might differ, depending on your web scraper’s configuration and other factors.

One thing that causes concern is the number of unique IPs. Over our test, GeoSurf managed to muster fewer than 300,000 addresses. Compared with providers like Smartproxy or Bright Data, this number is quite undersized.

GeoSurf's success rate only reached 89.50% and the most frequent cause of failure was timeouts (7.7%).

About the Speed test, GeoSurf was once again below the market average. For comparison, the best performing providers, Oxylabs and Smartproxy, reached an average response time of less than 1 second while GeoSurf took more than 2 seconds.

Overall, GeoSurf residential proxies performed well. Although the performance should be enough for most use cases, they couldn’t fully keep up with the market leaders like Oxylabs or 911 S5 Proxy...

GeoSurf Pros and Cons

GeoSurf is a great residential proxy network provider with many benefits but there are still some inevitable disadvantages. Let's take a closer look at GeoSurf's Pros and Cons to make the most precise decision before paying for a subscription.

Pros

  • Reliable workhorse proxies: GeoSurf’s residential IP network has over 2 million high-quality residential IPs in every country and every city in the world. Moreover, GeoSurf is located in Israel which is one of the countries seen as a safe haven for VPN and proxy providers because the government does not require them to provide browsing data of their customers.
  • Wide Range Coverage: In terms of location coverage, GeoSurf has got a good footprint here. Their residential IPs are present in over 150 countries and 1700 cities in the world. For their datacenter proxies, they are located in over 120 countries and 30 US Designated Market areas.
  • Acceptable Connection Speed: GeoSurf is one of the fastest residential proxies out there. Although, compared to other best proxy providers, GeoSurf response time is still a little slower.
  • GeoSurf Toolbar: Geosurf has an extension to let you use proxies on your browser for Chrome, Chrome-based browsers (such as Opera, Vivaldi, or Brave), and Firefox. With it, you can easily select the location of your proxy IP address and its rotation time. The toolbar is very user-friendly and you can clear cookies and cache at the press of a button.
  • IP Diversity: GeoSurf offers two types of IP rotation policies. The service offers Sticky IPs that you can choose to keep for 1, 10, or 30 minutes. On the other hand, GeoSurf High Rotating Gateways have a good number of IPs in a pool that this gateway makes use of to send your requests through, and this changes after each request. High Rotating Gateways are highly beneficial for web scraping.
  • Friendly Interface: GeoSurf made its website as intuitive as possible. You only need a few clicks to carry out the task you want to do on their website.

Cons

  • Comparatively High Pricing: Because of the effectiveness of residential proxies in keeping your IP hidden whilst avoiding detection, GeoSurf proxies are expensive – way above the average pricing of other proxy providers. So please consider carefully before making any purchase.

Conclusion

If you want long-term value, GeoSurf is one of the best proxy providers if you have the budget to use their service. GeoSurf is the best residential proxies provider for scraping and their proxies are reliable, secure, fast, and undetectable. They are also located in Israel, a proxy provider safe haven – perfect for your privacy.

The main doubt is GeoSurf service isn’t particularly cheap as compared to some of its peers and they don't offer trials. Moreover, you can’t get mobile IPs with GeoSurf, neither does it offer any custom crawlers of its own, nor does it support SOCKS5.
